How to maintain Windows controls

Spacing the Ranges of Controls Vertically:

It is clear from the image that controls are logically and vertically aligned. For example, the labels First name, Last name and their corresponding text boxes are in same top alignment. Similarly, State label, its text box and City label, its box maintain the same top alignment. One main concern that you may have is that the vertical distance among the controls from one range to another range is not appropriate while moving and aligning the controls either on a report or form. To adjust this, you need to move the controls. To adjust this a adept spacing is done between the ranges of controls using set of tools patented by Microsoft Access. First, you need to select the controls that have been aligned vertically. Lets take an example to illustrate this:
  1. Start Microsoft Access
  2. Open the any database
  3. In the Navigation Pane, right-click Company Assets and click Design View
  4. Press Ctrl A to select all controls
  5. On the Ribbon, click Arrange if necessary.
In the Sizing & Ordering section, click Size/Space and click Decrease Vertical
  6. Again, click Size/Space and then Decrease Vertically continually until the controls from one range touch the controls on the upper range

7.Click Size/Space and Increase Vertical twice

8. Save the form
9.Right-click the title bar of the form and click Form View

Global variables in Access database

The only persistent data in our application is the data in the database. Until now the only dialog data has been some data in the forms, for instance the value of the unbound controls. This data disappears when the form closes, so we need some way to handle dialog data that lives across the entire dialog with the user. Modules is the solution to the problem because a module is open and holds data as long as the application is running. As a simple example, we will see how to handle a simulated today's date. In the real system, we need to show today's date in many places, for instance as the default search criterion for arrival date.It is easy to do by means of the built-in function Date( ) which always gives us today's date (or rather the current date setting in the computer).

However, when testing the system, our test data is planned for some specific dates. We cannot change the test data every day we need it. We might instead change the current date setting of the system to the simulated date, but this is not recommended because it has side effects on other things, for instance the date of files created or changed, which again may create havoc in automatic backup procedures.

In this Example, Date is a global variable, sim Date is Access Function.

Can conversion cause corruption in Access Database??

Microsoft Access 2003 is a productivity suite written by Microsoft which was successor to Office Access XP and the predecessor to Office Access 2007. Office Access 2007 has plenty of advantages over earlier versions of MS Office Access. Files created in Microsoft Access 2000, 2002, 2003 can be opened in Microsoft Access 2007. Additionally database created in earlier previous versions can be converted into the new Office Access 2007 file format. The conversion provides you several functionalities and features available in Office 2007. At times, you might confront adversities with the converted database. Chances are corruption in files which leads to data inaccessibility. As an alternative, you should always have a updated backup of the database. However, If you are unable to maintain a backup of database then you have no better option than opting for a third party access database repair software.

To understand this lets take a real time example wherein you convert a database created in MS Access 2003 into MS Access 2007 format. It works fine for few days but later you find some error message:

“Microsoft Office Access has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state, and will attempt to recover the database. During this process, a backup copy of the database will be made and all recovered objects will be placed in a new database. Access will then open a new database. The names of objects that were not successfully recovered will be logged in the 'Recovery Errors' Table."

Due to before mentioned message data becomes inaccessible to the user. Before proceeding for further plan of action we must know about the cause of corruption and its recuperations.

Cause: Corruption can occur due to many reasons including power surges, malfunctioning, system crash etc. Another reason could be due to the excessive use of same resource at the same time by different users.

Resolution: Perform the following steps to perform access database recovery.

If shared Access database is compacted by you which is located on a server or shared folder then open MS Access database file needs to be closed and ensure it is not opened by any other user.
Go to Tools menu>>Database Utilities>>click Compact and Repair Database option
Run the Access file you want to compact in the database and click compact
Click Save
The original Access file will get replaced with the compacted at the same location

If still you don't get the solution then download an advanced and system compatible access recovery software from the Internet.

How to address the situations when Access gives error while opening

A highly reliable database management system, MS Access that helps users in creating queries, reports, forms and tables. Once required information is imported or exported then it can be linked to data for running queries and creating reports. At times, it is likely to fail while performing functions which further causes operating systems or application to stop responding. That might lead to corruption or damage of the file. So to resolve such issues Access repair solutions are needed to repair damaged access files. However, if backup is available then high probability may exist to repair Access, else using Access file repair software.

Consider, you are working on your system and you get some fatal error while opening Microsoft Office Access, which prevents Access from responding. To proceed further, you will need to follow the undermentioned steps to recover data from the file:

  • Try to use the Compact and Repair utility to open the file, instead of directly opening it. The system tries to repair the file using in built repair feature. If this doesn't solve the problem, read the next step.
  • Try to import the file into a new database file. But make sure you do not import all the objects in one go. This way, you'll be able to identify the problem objects and repair them. Reference to libraries and projects will have to be added later.
  • Another thing worth checking is, if the problem is with the application or database. Open the database on another system. Also, check if another database is opening on your system or not.
  • Sometimes, memory conflicts prevent opening the database. This can be checked by opening the file by running the system in Safe Mode.
  • Temporary files too lead to a lot of problem and should be removed regularly. In fact, if you run the Disk Cleanup utility, you will be able to see and remove the temporary files, Internet cache files and unnecessary program files.
  • Perform disk defragmentation tool and error checking tool should also be run to prevent such problems.
  • At times, virtual memory setting is too low on the computer. Change the virtual memory settings for your hard disk.
  • If no other thing works, use the last updated copy of your database file to repair Access document.
  • In the absence of backup, you have Access repair software to help you recover all your inaccessible data.

Indexes, What makes easy to search out every records in a table. Index have a location of records for corresponding fields in table that you select to index. Once indexes are set then MS Access directly retrieves the data from the current location. Thus indexes are being considered the fastest element to find out the data than scanning the data of all the records. But sometimes indexes definitions may get corrupt. To get out of such situations, if you have backup, then it is quiet good. Else you need to opt a third party Access database repair tool which repairs the corrupt data comprehensively and restores it at user specified location.

Suppose, you have an access database file and you are trying to import data from one table of MS-Access database but you get unexpected error message saying that attempt remains unsuccessful. In addition to this an error message pops out.

“Operation failed - too many indexes - reduce the number and try again

Importing process halts after facing the above error message:

Cause:
This error occurs because of the following situations:

The data which you are trying to import relates to corrupted or damaged table of MS Access.
Index definitions of destination table's are damaged or destroyed.
For sake of information, In MS Access Index are imported after the table definition and data. If the indexes definitions gets corrupt then it is certain to get this error message mentioned above.

Resolution:
To work around the problem, a user has to follow some steps:

Create a copy of the destination table, be sure that copy of the table do not contain any data.
Delete all indexes.
Command an append query and transfer the data from a problematic table to a new table.
Make sure to recreate indexes without using copy and paste application
Once you are done with index recreation then transfer the table to a new file.

However, If these steps don't solve the problem and still facing the problem then instead of wasting the time, go by a third party access repair application which repairs corrupt access file in such manner that while using MS-Access database application, you face no hassles. Repairing damaged MS Access 2000 file after receiving 'Unexpected error 35012' error message

Access is a file-system based relational database management system which has Microsoft Jet database engine as its default engine. It has a support for Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language that enable its users to create user defined functions and add other functionality to the database. The Access databases are prone to corruption. You may not get to notice the minor corruption issues as they are easily sorted by the Jet database engine in the normal course of operation. However, if someone quits the application without properly closing the connection first, may lead to unexpected results. Corruption may also be severe in cases when multiple users are trying to access the database simultaneously over a network. To overcome such corruption issues in Microsoft Access, you need to go for Access database repair through a reliable third-party utility.

For instance, you may come across the following error while trying to open an MS Access 2000 database file:

“Unexpected error 35012 ”

Cause:

Recover Your Access Files with the Repair Utility

The MS Access database files save the critical data of your company and you depend on them for smooth operations. If anything were to happen to them, especially if many days of data are threatened to be lost, things can turn very nasty. You might be left with a nil database as all its content get lost in an error. Microsoft has an in-built Access repair tool to bail you out in such circumstances, the Compact and Repair utility. It is known to be quite effective in getting back a good copy of your Access file after a crash. At times though, it is found to be incapable and one needs a third-party software for Access database repair.

There are many factors which can cause your Access database to become inaccessible. Corruption of file or faults in the configurations of the system is bound to occur from time to time. It helps to be prepared to face such situations by knowing how to use the Compact and Repair utility for Access database repair.

The causes of database corruption can be:-

Interrupted or broken write operation
Trying to access or using the the database file in a different program.
Faults in the hardware component.

Apart from the problem with hardware components, the Compact and Repair can be helpful for other errors. The problem with MDB files is that it is not easy to manage them after their size outgrows a certain level. That is the time when it becomes corrupted. The Compact and Repair recovery tool does exactly what becomes clear from its name. It compacts the MDB database to recover or repair access file. You need to give administrative access to the file for this to work. You also have the option to make automatic compact and repair operations each time you close an access file.

A more foolproof way to repair access file and recover them is to use an advanced third-party software that is proven for its effectiveness. Damaged, corrupt or inaccessible MDB or ADDB files can be recovered in their authentic form with all the structure and content intact.

Recovering Access database when Visual Basic for Applications (or VBA) modules fail to load into memory

Database corruption is not a very uncommon behavior that is usually marked by generation of some error messages, access denials to the database objects, deletion of records in any database table etc. It can occur because of several reasons, such as occurrence of crashes in between a write operation, too many users trying to access the database at the same time, power surges etc. Microsoft Access which has a support for Microsoft’s Visual Basic for Applications (or VBA) programming language is also prone to corruption. For proper functioning of the operating system, it is necessary to load all the components of Visual Basic. If your system is unable to load all its components into the memory, the database may become corrupt. In order to recover your Access database from any case of corruption, you may be required to go for Access repair through a third party recovery software.

For instance, when you try to open your MS Access 2000 database file, the Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) projects may not load.

Cause:
When the loading process takes place, the VBA reads the ‘Project’ stream to load the required modules into memory. If the ‘Project’ stream is larger than a particular size, the loading process is aborted and an error occurs.

This may render your database corrupt and you may not be able to access your important data stored in the database file. This may require you to perform Access repair through a backup. If you do not have an updated backup, you should follow the below mentioned resolution steps.

Resolution:
You should install the latest service pack for Microsoft Access 2000 database.

If the above resolution fails to solve the problem, you may get into a serious trouble as your database file may become corrupt. In such situations, to repair Access file, you should take help of reliable database recovery software. These software employ safe recovery mechanisms and can easily recover all your database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, user defined functions etc.

How to recover database properties after database compactation

Microsoft Access offers a rich user interface between MS Jet Engine and Software development tools which can be used to access Microsoft databases and provides support for security, transaction processing, indexing, referential integrity and more. Jet allows multiple users to access the database synchronously. It makes easier for you to access database and prevents database from being corrupted or invalidated when multiple users try to access or write database. However, at times you may find some problem while accessing the database. There are chances that database may have gone corrupted due to external interferences or power surges, or some other miscellaneous reasons. In those situation you need to take some corrective measures to come around the solution. However, If you are unable to unlock the problem then you must use a third-party Access database repair tool to repair Access file.

To illustrate the above, lets take a scenario wherein you are working on Access database. You run the compact and repair database function to maintain database properly. Later when you open the same file you see encrypted data with duplicate values in some tables and don't find some relationships which had been established among the tables.

So what to do?? Try to find the cause of this horrifying event where you find yourself in nowhere situation.

Causes:
There could be many reasons but the most expected is that at the time of execution of compact and repair database utility, indexes are rebuilt. Due to that, whenever it finds data that results violation in indexes which further drops out the indexes. Or, if you enforced referential integrity on this table which is also removed by compact process. Or database may have gone corrupt which is not letting the database to be accessed properly.

Resolution:
First things first, you should replace the data with an updated backup if you have one. However, if the backup is not updated then you should perform the following steps to fix this issue:

  • Opt for option Find Duplicates Query Wizard to check those records which corrupt the index.
  • Delete the bad records.
  • Sign the fields as primary key

Relation, having dropped, opt for Find Unmatched Query Wizard to check the bad records.
Remove those records or assign appropriate key value to those corresponding records..
Act with a new relation again

Still, If this solution doesn't lead you restoration of your file then you need to repair your access database file using third party access repair tool which restores and recovers all corrupted or damaged file for all latest Operating system.

Access Repair Software is an competent and economic tool which recovers database components such as macros, reports, tables, forms, and queries, modules. It supports the databases created in Access 2007, 2003. 2002, and 2000 and compatible with Windows 7, Vista, Server 2003, XP, and 2000.

Access database in Microsoft Access is a database management system form Microsoft that combines graphical user interface and software-development tools. Software developers can use Microsoft Access to develop application software or students can use to create run time applications and bankers can use it to maintain database for easy access. Using Microsoft Access, simple as well as difficult applications can be created. At times, it becomes necessary to convert stored data in Access to another form, such as an Excel Worksheet. Moreover, you can view and edit the SQL statements that drive every Microsoft Access database query. Sometimes it gives an error message while accessing database using SQL queries. It might happen due to two reasons either file is corrupt or corrupt data is stored. However, in case no backup is available and the repair utility also fails to repair the database, then you will need to use a third-party Access Database Repair application to repair the database.

Lets take a practical scenario to illustrate the above case where you come across the below error message after your data or file gets damaged

“This program has performed an Error.....request can't be completed”

Moreover, when you try to close the database, you encounter another error message:

“This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.”

After the above error message appears, the database records become inaccessible.

Grounds of the Issue:
Access database file got corrupted due to damaged data.
